Oh I’m so glad not to live in a earthquake prone area,although we get tornados which may be worse! Definitely a good idea to practice drills and have supplies on hand in case of emergency!

We live in Alaska right now but we’re moving to California once my hubby and I are both out of the Army. We’ll definitely have to invest in these kits and practice emergency drills with the kids! Thanks for sharing this!

I am not prepared for a natural disaster because we don’t live in a region where super-extreme weather happens. We have a really bad blizzard once in a blue moon, and we tend to concentrate our emergency preparedness for the car rather than for the house. Getting stuck in the snow, ice, or cold weather is our threat.

It is important to prepare for emergencies when things are calm and quiet. It is also important to get children involved with the plan so they are prepared for emergencies when they occur.

This post was very good. Most people are like you and prepare the emergency kits, but not ones that are packed for the family including kids to be able to pick up and go. This was very good advice.

Eek, scary. I thought about this a lot during Hurricane Sandy. Luckily, earth quakes aren’t very likely here in New York, but hurricanes now are becoming a reality. Thanks for sharing the information. We have no safety/emergency plan, but definitely need to develop one. You just never know.
