I obviously didn’t get in as many posts as I would have liked, but it was a very nice week of showing more appreciation and love to my husband. And I found that, even more than the fun date nights and big meals, what really meant the most to him was my change of attitude in certain situations.
Blame it on lack of sleep for three years, lack of planning, or just plain a case of the grumps – but I tend to get stressed rather quickly at certain times. You know those times, when I think I am running late, the kids are crying, or something is just not going as planned. I too quickly get grumpy and start stomping around muttering things under my breath and snapping at whoever dares ask me a question.
So this week, I made a huge effort to not get stressed as often. I would ask myself, “what is the worst that can happen?” Is it worth it to be on time if my family gets there grumpy and stressed, probably not! Basically I worked like the dickens for the best possible outcomes, ie on time, well planned, etc., and then adapted more flexibly if something didn’t go according to plan.
For example, the Sunday clothes I packed for my little one this weekend on vacation were way too hot for the weather. So the little dude went to church in a onesie and shorts. Didn’t even phase me past two seconds. Would I have preferred a spiffy, cool Sunday outfit -oh yes! But was it worth worrying about since there wasn’t anything I could do, nope!
Perhaps that was the best present I could give to my husband last week – a calmer, more happy wife. Was I perfect? Not really. I still had my moment trying to get sunscreen on the wiggliest three year old in the world. But was I better – probably by a long shot!

I need to do this. Let things roll of my back a bit more easily. Thank you so much for posting your experience!
