I was inspired by two blogs this week! My cute friend Emily from BYU-Idaho posted this quote on her blog:

“For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin-real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. This perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So treasure every moment you have and remember
that time waits for no one.
Happiness is a Journey!

These words struck a chord with me especially with all the events of the last few months. We’ve been wading through lots of situations, trials, and blessings. Some goals have been put on hold or abandoned, but after reading this quote I am ready to get back to it and keep moving forward!

While blog browsing, I came across the 21 day challenge by Rhonna Designs. So each day for the next 21 days I am going to be blogging about my new goal!

My goal this month is to:

Get outside and get moving with my children!

My family is suffering from too much screen time still. I am also training for a 4 mile run on Thanksgiving Day with my family so why not take care of two goals at once? At first I considered making less screen time my goal, but I decided to focus on getting outside instead. I recall from my C.S. Lewis class in college that in order to rid ourselves of certain vices we have to first replace them with something else worthwhile. I hope that as we get outside, exercise, and enjoy nature – we will more naturally have less screen/electronic time.

So today I am

ENVISIONING

where I want to be in 21 days. I see myself ….

healthier

happier

more full of joy and life

I see my children with cheeks rosy from exercise

eyes full of wonder at the world around them.

And I also see myself crossing the finish line of the 4 mile race!

And I don’t think that I am going to have to ask this one twice to join me outside! She LOVED spending every day on the beach, in the Redwood Forest, etc. while we were on our California vacation. In this picture she is holding an adorable fluffy little caterpillar.
