Something crazily amazing happened today … my first Halloween with NO SUGAR! Luckily my kiddos are strangely attracted to the suckers and fruity candy which is easier for me to avoid. Now if they had baskets full of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers … that might be trickier. I may have to sneak a few and hide them away for my free day.

Our Halloween plans changed many times today. Over the weekend, Lily was getting over a cold and Cortland started running a low temperature and acting sick earlier in the day. I thought he was restarting the cold, but he was also saying that his mouth hurt … low and behold he is getting in some molars – no fun! So instead of heading to my mom’s to trick or treat with cousins like we normally do, we stayed close to home and trick or treated within the ward. We sure missed our cousins, though!
At first it was going to be just Lily and Johnny, but last minute Cort woke up so I decided to come with the boys, too. And I am glad that I did because it was our simplest and easiest Halloween!
Lesson learned. No need to stress – everything will work out!

Lily was both a butterfly and a dog this year for Halloween. We picked out the butterfly costume together online, but then Johnny found the dog jacket at the DI and just couldn’t resist. So this weekend was full of costume changes for the Bean!

Lily wore her butterfly costume to preschool, but the accessories apparently didn’t last long. Isn’t her little friend darling in his dragon costume?

The puppy jacket made an appearance at Little Gym.

Cort has been terrified of his skunk costume all weekend and wouldn’t put it on until he saw that Lily got candy when she had her costume on. After that he was all business. He waddled around in the skunk costume all night exclaiming, “AWESOME!” He was quite impressed that all these people were giving him candy.

It seems we have to work on our politeness … at one house Lily told the people that our baby was cuter than theirs. I guess I should be happy that she is proud of her baby brother? I am pretty proud of him, too. Our little bumble bee slept all snuggled up in the Moby Wrap the entire time we were out. Such a good little babe!
