This week we’ve been working on our words. Boy oh boy have we had to watch our language because our two little rascals repeat everything … and often. Too often! Now my hubby and I don’t really swear, but there’s plenty of other slang words that I don’t want to hear coming from their darling little lips.

I decided it was time to put those little lips to good use and we’ve begun learning songs and sayings. I’ve read about how good it can be for children in the Eyre’s book Entitlement Trap and also on their daughter’s blog. Plus as a child I was IN LOVE with reading and words. My mom nurtured that love in me and my siblings and I want to pass that passion on to my own little ones.

Memorization has been a big part of my daughter’s preschool curriculum and it has been fun to build on that.

This week we started singing and memorizing one of my favorite little numbers/sayings from the 1940s. Here is Lily’s interpretation:

Me: Accentuate the Positive

Me: Eliminate the Negative

Lily: …. And Don’t Mess Up Your Hair!
