Dr. Seuss Graduation Gift - Keep Moving Forward With Me

When I spoke at my high school graduation, I quoted, you guessed, Oh, The Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss. I loved the book back then and I still do! I’ll let you in on a little secret, I am so sentimental when it comes to preserving memories. Yearbook signing day was a red letter day for me and you better believe I was on the yearbook staff, too!

As my oldest’s preschool graduation quickly approached a few years ago, I knew that I wanted to do something special for her. Looking back, there were so many teachers who had tremendous influence on me and I still remember their words of encouragement. I decided that I wanted my daughter to have a written remembrance of those words from her teachers!

I hopped on to Amazon.com and had my copy of Oh, The Places You’ll Go! within in two days. Trust me, the end of the school year will be here before you know it! Stop by the bookstore or take the easy route like me and have it shipped to your front door for $11!

Each year, I’ve taken it to my daughter’s classroom a few weeks before the end of the school year and given it to her teacher to sign. I usually leave it with them for a day or two so they can sign it at their leisure. Each year I take a picture of her teacher’s words just in case the book somehow gets misplaced, too. Always good to have back up! It’s been so fun to read her teachers’ words and I can’t wait to give this to her when she graduates!

Isn’t it incredible what an impact Dr. Suess has had on so many people? His words have become such a part of our culture. Just goes to show how important children’s book authors are.

I don’t think you can ever go wrong with Dr. Seuss. There’s not a time in my life when some of those most prolific words haven’t fit in at some point to encourage me, remind me or implore me to look up and reach forward. Absolute best gift. Ever. You’ve created an amazing memory for your child.
