Baked Spaghetti - Keep Moving Forward With Me

As a mom I am always on the lookout for simple recipes that I know my kids/husband will love. One of our favorites is oh so easy peasy and completely customizeable to what is in your pantry. Drum roll please … Baked Spaghetti featuring Newman’s Own Marinara Sauce!

Spaghetti on its own is a hit, but when I have the ingredients on hand I like to spice it up a bit. Here’s what we like to do:

Ingredients:

Spaghetti Noodles

Newman’s Own Marinara Sauce

Sauteed Veggies – whatever you have on hand! Tonight I used kale and onion. Other nights I have tossed in grated carrot, zucchini, peppers, spinach, whatever you love at your house

Meat – sometimes we go meatless, but we had lean organic ground beef in the freezer for tonight’s meal. Other yummy options are sausage, ground turkey, or shredded chicken

Cheese – again, feel free to go cheeseless, but I’ve got a house of cheese lovers! We love Parmesan, but we have also used Mozzarella

Optional:

2 cups Cottage Cheese

2 eggs

Directions:

Cook your spaghetti noodles according to the package directions. Cook ground beef. Saute veggies. Once everything is prepared, I mix the noodles, ground beef, veggies, cheese, cottage cheese, and eggs, all together in a 9×13 pan. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes at 325. How simple is that?

Baked Spaghetti is one of our staples and one of my favorite ways to make sure my kiddos are getting enough veggies. Newman’s Own Mariana sauce is the perfect starting place for my recipe and I love how many different variations we have been able to make with it.

One of the reasons I like to buy Newman’s Own is that I know that I am also supporting a charity with my purchase – the Newman’s Own Foundation. Another company that supports the Newman’s Own Foundation is Newman’s Own Organics. Newman’s Own Organics was started with Paul Newman’s blessing and a loan from Newman’s Own. They have a yummy new snack line that some of my blogger friends with The Pitch List have been reviewing.

Oh man, this is bringing back childhood memories. My Mom used to make baked spaghetti, and, inexplicably, us kids decided to name the dish “Pasta La Vista”….haha!!
