Where did the summer go? This month we are wrapping up our summer adventures with one last trip to Bear Lake (pictured above!) and getting Lily ready to start second grade at her new charter school. With so many exciting things going on, I need fast, healthy, and easy snacks to keep me and the kiddos going! Apples and grapes are always a hit at our house so my littles couldn’t wait to dive into this yummy package from Chiquita Snacking.
As a busy mom, I love that Chiquita Bites are:
- Washed and ready to eat
- 30–80 calories
- A half-cup of fruit or vegetables per serving
- A great source of nutrition
They come in single-serve bags, multipacks, and family packs – whatever size suits your family best! They are perfect for grabbing from the fridge when you are on your way to a dance lesson or – better yet – when it is your time to bring team treats for sports!
My family enjoyed eating them as is, but it was fun searching the Chiquita site for yummy and creative recipes! My little ones love it when their snacks are fun! We made these simple fruit cars for a birthday get together with cousins. They were a hit!
We served the apple cars along with princess wands made from the grapes! Pair that with crown-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and you have happy kiddos!
To go along with the apple cars, I made our favorite fruit dip! Every time I serve it to company, I always get asked multiple times for the recipe. People are shocked when I tell them it is only two easy ingredients – honey greek yogurt and peanut butter! You can substitute any nut butter as well as different flavors of greek yogurt to change the taste. It is a protein-packed snack dip that I can feel good about my kids indulging in. Perfect to serve with the apple and grapes!
I am excited to try a few more of the recipes from the Chiquita web-site for our after school snacks! Don’t these look delicious?
Love that back to school snacks just got a little easier and healthier at our house! The Chiquita Snacking company loves making life easier for moms! T

These snacks look delicious! My tip i that: Sometimes shopping online can save you time and money. I just ordered my kids some jeans for only $7 each with free shipping, and I didn’t even have to go to the store!

I love these lil snackers and usually buy them for my daughter whenever we are going out. Since they’re pre-sliced, washed and individually wrapped it sure makes it easier to take with us.

I made that dip for a magazine article with my last job, but I could never get it to work with Greek yogurt. We used regular – maybe it was the honey! I’ll definitely give yours a try because I like the extra protein in the Greek!

Those are the kinds of snacks I will eat if I have them but won’t take the time to cut up myself. This is pretty genius.

We don’t do after school snacks at our house yet, but my daughter will be starting pre-k this year. She loves apple slices with peanut butter! I like to buy Jiff to Go, having pre-portioned peanut butter makes snack time a little easier, lol. I’m excited to try to Brie & Pecan recipe you posted on the blog too, I love Brie cheese!

My back to school tip is to start early and keep a stash on hand! Everytime I go get groceries through the summer…I pick up 1 item…either pens, pencils, a notebook, a pack of socks…something. Then when fall comes…I have some already done and it doesnt hit all at once
Nancy · August 10, 2014 at 6:26 pm
Here’s my BTS tip: Pack tomorrow’s lunches as you clear up from dinner. Leftovers can form part of tomorrow’s lunch. Refrigerate overnight and grab and go in the morning!

My back to school tip is to buy a set of school supplies to keep at home, and make a homework station. Nothing like starting homework, only to realize you don’t have a single sharpened pencil!

Create an after school snack section of the refrigerator filled with healthy, pre-portioned snacks that the kids can grab whenever they get home. Things like cheese sticks, apples and dip, grapes, etc.

Snacks are an important part of the school day. We often think about breakfast, but snacks during the day are crucial as well.
